One of his first projects was a voiceover for a video done by Cochin Shipyard on Safety and Maintenance standards. He dabbled in theatre wherever he went and soon studios and film directors approached him to dub for Malayalam movies. He worked in a newspaper office in Kolkata and then in Kochi. He took part in dramas and did advertisement jingles too. Narayanan says he was drawn to acting since his school days. I have observed a lot of Palakkad Iyers in my life and I have learnt a lot about their mannerisms.” The purpose is to make people laugh, relax and forget their worries.
